Poland May Implement Flavored Heated Tobacco Ban Next Year

The Polish government expects to ban the sale of heated tobacco products next year. The Polish government is discussing ban enforcement with e-cigarette manufacturers to implement an EU directive banning the sale of such products.

According to a recent report by Poland Businessinsider, the Polish government has decided to ban the sale of heated tobacco products. Wojciech Konieczny, Deputy Minister of Health of Poland, said that the bill is being discussed internally and is expected to enter the legislative process soon.

Konieczny added that “perhaps the regulations will be implemented starting next year,” but before the ban is officially implemented, the government will first have in-depth discussions with relevant industry producers.

The EU Tobacco Directive bans the introduction of flavored heated tobacco products onto the EU market and removes member states’ exemptions from certain labeling requirements for such products.

At the end of 2023, Poland was lagging behind in implementing the EU ban, and the European Commission has issued a warning and asked Poland to take action as soon as possible. Just last week, Polish Health Minister Izabela Leszczyna also mentioned that she was planning to study policies related to banning disposable e-cigarettes.
